After a dreadful morning yesterday, the day got much better in the afternoon and quite cheery in the evening. Needless to say that my spell of self-doubt, doubt and whatnot is currently on hold. Good.

So we changed our rental car booking from 2 days to 1 day, so we can go straight to Unna tomorrow. Then, on Sunday, we will pick up our things again and head to Amsterdam with a new rental car.

I would really have liked to spend around 3 or more days in Amsterdam, but with rental car prices being that high, in addition to outrageous petrol prices, and the apartment prices also being extra high in July/August, it will just be a one-night-trip.

We have a beautiful place booked in the Jordaan and I am really REALLY looking forward to it. Lets hope the weather holds up!

Today people are coming to pick up furniture. Unfortunately, the guy who wanted the sofa backed out. So now I have a gorgeous, comfortable sofa here and noone wants it! I would take it, trust me, but it doesn't seem like all my stuff will fit in the car to begin with!

Today was interesting. First of all we had our presentation about our trip to Switzerland back in May. I really regret we didn't do it early. We thought it would be better to do it now without any kids around, but I think people are just too tired still. We also were not as enthusiastic as we were back then and forgot a lot. Oh well. We did prepare a nice set-up with Swiss cheese and Swiss chocolate :P However, most people did not get there until AFTER 9 am. :S

Then I worked on some target sheets for 7th grade maths and went for lunch with a friend. Afterwards we went to headquarters and I handed in my work laptop, my work phone and my keys. So hopefully this means a smooth handover of the remains and that is it :D

Just made a hairdresser's appointment for 1pm tomorrow.... cheeky :D

I also heard that the 'old' IAMX forum, which previously closed down, is about to open. And I guess it is true: http://www.iamxforum.com/

Time is moving way way way too fast for me at the moment. I only have three more days in my old job, which I was actually called about this weekend. The headmaster wanted to ask me if it was at all possible that I stay until the spring. I said no. I will keep it in mind, just in case by September I have the urge to go back, but I also met a nice girl today and she may be up for my position. I will recommend her, should she send her CV to me in time.

This weekend we sold some stuff. I guess most of the big stuff is gone... it is nice, cause we have managed to save so much money this month despite buying stuff. And we made money as well. I should think that we are very fine until the end of September, when we both should have jobs anyway again. I am employed until the very end of August anyway, so nothing to worry about. I hope to be able to start my dream job shortly after that :P

Today my childhood friend really proved to be some weird type of 'information stalker'. All the time I asked her to meet up, wanted to chat to her on MSN, but nothing. Now someone left a comment on my studivz wall about leaving Berlin and she is sending me messages saying "Are you moving?" and she was even asking the same on MSN. I left both unanswered for the time being, but seriously though..... why would she care? I have not seen her once since December, which is when I was back in Berlin. She has always been that way.

Had the neighbours from downstairs up here today. They are so nice. Much older than us, I guess he is 57, she can't be far from it. She is German, he is American. She is a psychologist, he is an artist. Yes, so we do have things in common. Most notably a similar attitude. They picked up some of the plants from the balcony and some kitchen stuff. I hope that we get to see them again before they are off to the Baltic Sea with their friends on Friday. And we will leave on Saturday. Rental car has been arranged and most of the stuff has been packed. I am nervous about going to my parents' house... but in a good way. We will stay at a hotel overnight on the way.... just because :P I know it is only 500 km but it is the A2 which is boring and we will leave later. It will be nice to relax on the way as well :D

We just had Chinese food. It was soooooooooo good! I really need some dim sum from the Drunken Monkey though. We are not gonna cook until we leave, maybe a frozen pizza, but we don't wanna shop anymore, nor do we have the energy. Yesterday we went to the Italian place and had some nice food, and sometime this week we will go to the Greek place for a good-bye feast :D

Today was an important day. Why?, you may ask. It is the first day of the summer holidays, and traditionally that meant rain and coldness. I was wearing a skirt and white shirt only today, because this morning it looked as though the forecasts had been all wrong.

Anyway, of course the weather was not really of great importance. This was the first day at work without kids, which was much needed and anticipated. Yesterday we celebrated the end of year and it lasted a while. I think we got rid of the last parents at 6pm. Most parents and kids are happy that school is over and leave earlier, but I guess this is where we stand out.

Today I also had the guts to hand in my notice. I quit my job. I am still working until next week, then have overtime off and then my vacation time. I need to sort a lot of things out during that time. Anyway, I feel so relieved. Maybe one day I will have the time and patience to write all of the stuff out... but not now.

I am just so happy.

Just in time, a box of wine arrived today.. which I will attend to now.
